You’ve earned a few certifications—now what? Don’t let them gather digital dust. Showcasing certifications on your resume and LinkedIn profile is key to standing out in a competitive job market. The trick is to place them where recruiters will actually see them and understand their value.
On your resume, certifications should go in their own section—typically right after your education or skills. List the full name of the certification, the issuing organization, and the date earned. If the cert is relevant to the job you're applying for, consider mentioning it in your summary statement too. For example: “Certified Digital Marketing Associate with hands-on experience running paid ads.”
On LinkedIn, add your certifications under the “Licenses & Certifications” section. Be sure to include any license number or credential URL if available. If the course was from a well-known platform like Google, Coursera, or HubSpot, tag the company—it boosts credibility and visiblity.
Don’t be afraid to post about newly earned certifications, either. A short post saying what you learned, why it matters, and a thank-you to the course creator shows initiative and makes you look active in your field.
Certs are more than just paper—they show you’re proactive and always learning. And that? That’s what employers love to see.
Just remember to keep them updated. An expired cert might hurt more than help.
